Cuddly Animals

This all started with Tommy's baby shower duck (see previous blogs) and it has escalated. I even took two orders and made real money off these; not the ones below, but an elephant and a cat. They came out brilliantly, but I can't seem to find any photos, which is a shame. I have photos of Mr Monster and Miss Piglet, however. They are by no means my proudest work, but they are fun to make and make good gifts for newborns and babies. They haven't been well received, but I am struggling with photography and placement and pricing. How much can you charge for four hours of your time? At work I would expect to make over £30, but you can't charge £30 + materials + VAT for these things because no one would buy them. Anyway, this is a craft blog not a business blog, but if anyone has any advise I'll take it. I welcome comments of any kind. Look at the photos! Toadstool

I've always loved mushrooms to eat. Yummy. Can't go a meal without them. So it was a logical step to look for cute items that represent this love. Naturally, I fell in love with toadstools and their whimsical connotations. Perhaps they are little creatures with big red, spotty hats on. This toadstool was made by my brother-in-law from my nephew's Play-Do and I enjoyed it so much I took it home and vowed to make little crochet ones... .... and that's just what I did. Maybe they could be keyrings or Christmas decorations. At the moment I have two hanging from my stag antlers on my craft room wall. They are super cute and have led to many other toadstool inspired creations, one of which is still in progress and the other can be found below... For Christmas, Dave gave me the Cath Kiddston mushroom print fabric and I have gone wild with it (pun intended- wild mushroom? Too loose? I enjoyed it) I

Crochet Shorts

More crochet! Always. These little babies are rather addictive to make, but as it turns out, not so practical to wear. I've made a large white and blue pair and these extra small ones below are for Maddy, my sister. They look good on, but they don't fully cover everything. I'm working on a red pair for myself. Crochet has no limits, people! I really love the idea of crochet clothes, but I feel it doesn't always translate off the hook well. I am determined to make a wearable piece of crochet clothing. I will succeed. Watch this space!
